Marshall County 4-H Round Up

The date for the Marshall County 4-H Round Up has been set for April 21st, 2010 at the Guntersville Recreation Center starting at 8:30 pm and ending at 2:00 pm. 2010 4-H Public Speaking Contest

The Marshall County 4-H Public Speaking Contest was held on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010.
The following Marshall County 4-H'ers took Top Honors:

Persuasive Junior Division
1st Place--Annessa Wrenn/DAR Elementary

Informative Junior Division
1st Place--Jayme Snider/Grassy Elementary

Persuasive Intermediate Division
1st Place--Kaitlyn Anderson/MCCC
2nd Place--Ashlen Bellin/Arab Junior High

County Council Meeting

Marshall County 4-H has announced the meeting date for the January 2010 4-H County Council meeting. The meeting will be held January 19th, 2010 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Extension Auditorium on the Ground Floor of the Marshall County Courthouse in Guntersville. All Junior Member 4-H officers and ALL Senior Level 4-H'ers are encouraged to come. This is a great leadership opportunity for all involved.

2009 4-H Summer Tour



The North Alabama 4-H Summer Enrichment Tour took place July 27-31, 2009 in Orlando, Florida. Youth from Marshall, Jackson, Madison, Limestone, Franklin, and Colbert counties were in attendance for the trip. Marshall County participants were as follows: Anna & Allison Montgomery and Lora & Shea Briscoe from Douglas High, Christian Childress, Kacie Battles, Emilee Blanken, Devin Mitchell & Tina Shirley from Brindlee Mountain Middle, Alyssa Brasher from Arab Jr. High, Andrew Hornbuckle from Arab High, Kyle Ray from Alabama Ave. Middle, Participants took place in the Y.E.S. Educational Program at Epcot/Disney World, youth also visited The Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Wonder Works Museum, Medieval Times, and the Florida Mall. Chaperones from Marshall County included Nancy Montgomery (MC 4-H Volunteer) and Kristen Roberson (MC 4-H Agent.)

Twisters Club Announced

The Marshall County Twisters 4-H Club has announced it's meeting dates for the 2009-2010 4-H Year. The Twisters club is open to ANY youth ages 9-19 who do not participate in an In-School 4-H Club. The Marshall County 4-H Program offers opportunities in the following: Arts & Crafts, Architecture, Robotics, Public Speaking, Leadership, Citizenship, Community Service, Cooking, Horses, Camping, Shooting Sports and much, much more!


Meeting dates for the Twisters club are as follows:

In 2009: September 15, October 20, November 17
In 2010 : January 19, February 16, and March 16


Each meeting will be held on the Ground Floor of the Courthouse in Guntersville from 6:00-7:30. For questions contact Kristen at 582.2009

2009 Summer Camp

Marshall County youth attended 4-H Summer camp from June 8-10, 2009 at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama. During 4-H Summer Camp Youth are encouraged to renew old friendships and to make new friends. They are presented with the opportunity to try new things and stretch themselves to be the best they can be! 4-H camp strives to instill the values of Head, Heart, Hands, and Health through belonging, independence generosity, and mastery in the lives of all who come to camp. Youth participated in many activities including: Swimming, Aqua-Tramp, Putt-Putt Golf, Sand volleyball, Tug-of-War, Camp Fire songs, water games, reptile learning, youth talent show, Arts & Crafts, and Orienteering.
