2009 Alabama State Congress
4-H, the state’s oldest and largest youth development organization, is coordinated by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System through its historic affiliation with land-grant institutions Auburn University and Alabama A&M University. State Congress is reserved for those Senior Level 4-H’ers winning Top Honors at their Local, and Regional Level’s.
Seven Marshall County 4-H’ers competed at 4-H State Congress held at the University of Montevallo on June 19th.
Bringing home 1st place win’s were the following: from Brindlee Mountain High School, Jeffery Craven II in Plant & Soil Science and Chase Kerr in $15 Challenge, and from Douglas High School, Anna Montgomery in Quilting.
Lora Briscoe from Douglas High School brought home a 3rd place victory in Freestyle Showcase.
Bringing home Honorable Mentions were the following: Austin Anderson in Persuasive Public Speaking, Ryan Harris in Traditional Photography both from Marshall Community Club and Andrew Hornbuckle from Arab High School in Woodworking.
